Closer and Closer and Closer and Closer!

The last couple of weeks have been "baby steps" - a little paint here, a new doorknob there - all the things that lead us to our walk-through on Wednesday. After that we should be close to owning 6221 Motts Village Road.

Finally we can see the glass doors with the windows uncovered.

One of the glitches is that this fan does not work - a new one is on order.

The house cleaners - too cute! They did a fantastic job.

Notice - still! - the lack of fixtures - more to come....

A new frig without a frayed cord. However, it still does not fit correctly. Added to the "punch list".

Remember the lights that were to be in the bookcases - finally the opening appeared.

 A day later - let there be lights.

No more paper!

The cardboard in our TV - trying to figure out the right size.

The entryway mosaic finally uncovered.

 The powder room was supposed to be wallpapered  - they finally remembered so everything had to be removed.

The wallpaper is much better looking in person.

Notice the fixture in the toilet room? Notice there are not matching fixtures on the mirror? Remember that they mirror was cut incorrectly so the first fixtures did not fit? Guess what? The second fixtures that match the toilet room fixture also do not fit. We are on to fixtures #3, and if they cannot find coordinating ones, the toilet room fixture will be replaced. Good news is that this is not on our tab.

Meanwhile, back in The Forest ..... ice! Schools were closed as were many businesses. Funny to those of us from "The North".

 A day later, the ice melted and the birds returned.

Somewhere Jeff lost his tape measure - notice anything in the lower right corner of the skylight??? On the roof???

We drove to Charlotte for our Ikea adventure - the photos do not do justice to the number of boxes in our trailer. Neither do they show what happens when a tire on our trailer blows up - literally. Remember steel belts? The tire looked like a steel porcupine. Good news is that we were just outside of Charlotte on their Auto Row. Bad news washaving to buy two new tires for a trailer we're keeping for another month. It could have been a catastrophe if the trailer tipped. We were soooooooo lucky. The other good news is that Ikea was only out of two things, glass doors, on our list. We're heading back there near the end of the month for the 2nd and 3rd round of the NCAA playoffs - hopefully the doors will be in stock.
