Halloween was an all day affair - it started with our ukulele class. The UkeLadies were classy, refined and tastefully dressed as usual. We did make a "pinky swear" at lunch that we would tell each other about aberrant facial hair. Obviously we should have made that promise before class.
Our favorite 5 & 8 year-old neighbors (and their Mom, aka our adopted daughter, Stephanie) came over to 'trick or treat'. We decided to bob for apples - in part because Liam and Charles are minus their front teeth. Alas, I forgot to remove the apple stems, so it wasn't much of a challenge. Everyone got a little wet and a lot of laughs. A huge round of applause for Stephanie who completed a half triathlon last weekend and a half marathon today!

To top off our day, we went to see "Phantom of the Opera" presented by The City Ballet of Wilmington. Our plane partner's daughter, Aisling Henihan, was a featured performer as the "Water Siren". She is so lovely and so talented - as is her younger sister, Kira (Kyra? Oh, no, I'm not sure). Because it was Halloween, and "The Opera", the audience was asked to dress for the occasion. I'm only sorry I didn't bring Aisling a bag of pretzels wrapped in celophane and ribbon for the occasion. She is my co-believer that pretzels are 'nature's perfect food'.

Our most costly mistake - so far! We realized there was not going to be enough natural light in our bathroom. There's nothing that $$$ can't fix. The new glass block window hasn't arrived yet.
It looks entirely different with the sheetrock.
Jeff added a pull-down staircase in the pantry. There is a lot of storage above, and they HVAC people did a great job of keeping it clear of ducts, etc.
The 31st was filled with Halloween activities, and it stormed on 11/1 - including hail. It was an all-around yucky day. We drove to the house late in the afternoon just as some workmen were leaving. They were blowing in insulation around the doors and windows.

I drove to the house about 4:00 - on Sunday. Somehow they first-coat taped the entire house in less than a day.
Yeah - we're finally caught up with the blog. Meanwhile we made more choices. This is the brick we picked for the fireplace...
The owner of The Stone Garden sent this photo of it used outside. I wanted greys and Jeff wanted brown, so it seems like a good compromise.
I guess we're through a lot of the 'fast' parts of the house building. It's amazing what they've done in just two months. Today's project is to find switch plates, outlets, etc to match the kitchen subway tile.
